Heavenly Father,
As I open the book of 2 Kings, I ask You to open my heart and my mind to Your truth. Thank You for preserving Your Word so that I can know You more deeply and understand Your character.
As I read, help me see more than the rise and fall of kings and kingdoms. Show me Your holiness, Your justice, Your mercy, and Your unwavering faithfulness. Teach me to recognize the danger of drifting away from You and to remain faithful even when the world around me chooses a different path. Help me to trust that Your ways are always right and that Your promises never fail.
Reveal the ways this book points to Jesus- our perfect Prophet, our righteous King, and the One who alone can restore what sin has broken. Give me wisdom to understand the Scriptures in their proper context and a humble heart that is willing to be changed by what I learn.
