As you follow Israel's journey from Mount Sinai to the edge of the Promised Land, you'll witness God's guidance through the wilderness, His patience in the face of rebellion, His righteous discipline, and His unwavering commitment to His covenant promises. Along the way, you'll discover powerful accounts like the twelve spies, Balaam and his donkey, the bronze serpent, and God's continual provision for His people. Most importantly, you'll see how every chapter points forward to Jesus Christ-our faithful Shepherd, the Rock who provides living water, and the One who was lifted up so that all who believe in Him might have eternal life.

My prayer is that these resources encourage you to slow down, open your Bible, and grow in your trust of God's faithfulness. Numbers isn't simply a record of Israel's wandering; it's the story of a God who patiently leads His people, remains faithful even when they are not, and continues working out His perfect plan despite human failure.

But First... Pray

Prayer Before Studying Numbers

Heavenly Father,

As I prepare to study the book of Numbers, I ask You to quiet my heart and open my mind to Your truth. Thank You for giving us every page of Scripture, even the parts that challenge me or seem unfamiliar. I know that Your Word is living, active, and able to teach me more about who You are and who You are calling me to be.

As I read, help me see more than census lists, wilderness journeys, and moments of Israel's failure. Reveal Your faithfulness, Your patience, Your holiness, and Your steadfast love for a people who often wandered yet were never abandoned. Teach me to trust You even when the path ahead feels uncertain, remembering that You are always faithful to keep Your promises.

Help me recognize how the events in Numbers point forward to Jesus Christ-our faithful Shepherd who leads His people, the Rock who provides living water, and the One who was lifted up so that all who believe in Him might have eternal life.

Give me a humble and teachable heart. Help me to slow down, ask thoughtful questions, and observe Your Word carefully before turning to outside resources. May Your Holy Spirit guide me into truth and help me understand these passages in their proper context.

Lord, use this study to strengthen my faith, deepen my dependence on You, and remind me that even when Your people are unfaithful, You remain faithful. Teach me to follow You with obedience, perseverance, and confidence, trusting that You are leading me exactly where You want me to be.

Thank You for inviting me to know You through Your Word. Draw me closer to You as I study, and may everything I learn bring glory to Your name.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
